Termination of a Thai marriage under Thai Family Law

A Thai mariage under Thai law comes to its end at death, divorce or being cancelled by the Court. Divorce puts an end to the marriage. The legal process for divorce in Thailand is through a simple amphur procedure which requires mutual consent or more lengthy and costly court procudere and effected by judgment of the court.The results and effects of a divorce in Thailand are the same as when the marriage is cancelled.

Thailand land laws governing foreign land ownership

Thailand land laws specify that foreigners can only own land in Thailand pursuant to a treaty. However there is currently no treaty with any country allowing foreigners to own land. In general foreigners are prohibited from owning land and any foreigner illegally owning land (outright or through an agent or nominee) can be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 2 years (section 111 of the Land Code Act). The Thai government created one very restrictive exception for foreign land ownership in section 96 bis Land Code Act (the Land Code Amendment Act B.E. 2542 (1999)). Condominium Act Thailand Section Foreign Ownership

Foreigners are within the foreign ownership quota of a condominium allowed to own an apartment unit freehold in their own name. Foreigners must however qualify under condominium laws for foreign ownership. Section 19 of the Condominium Act is the relevant law section governing foreign apartment ownership in Thailand.
